Lithocarpus glaber

Lithocarpus glaber, as known as the Japanese oak（scientific name: Lithocarpus glabra) is native to Japan, southern China and Taiwan,and is a warm-temperate deciduous broad-leaved tree of the family Fagaceae. There are no streaks in the tree and the bark is smooth. It is a tropical tree and grows naturally in the west of Kinki region to Shikoku, Kyushu and Okinawa. The flowers that bloom from summer to autumn are caudate intertwined single flowers with inconspicuous flower coats, and male inflorescences fall off after blooming. The fruits are acorns (nuts) that will bear fruit in the following fall. The acorn is slender and has a concave bottom and can be eaten. The only genus Lithocarpus in Japan is Lithocarpus glabra and Lithocarpus edulis.
