What is Pieris koidzumiana

Pieris koidzumiana or called Ryukyu Acebi in Japanese (Scientific name: Pieris koidzumiana) is native to Okinawa and is a cold tolerant evergreen shrub of the Ericaceae family. It is also known as Okinawa Asebi. The leaves are lanceolate and sawtoothed at the edges. In spring, the panicles are extended and many white rose-shaped florets are attached. Compared to acebi, the leaves are shiny and thick, and the florets are thick. Similarly, the sprouts that appear in spring are red and beautiful.
