Kitayama sugi (scientific name: Cryptomeria japonica var. Radicans) is a variant of evergreen coniferous trees "Cryptomeria japonica (Cedar)" of the family Cupressaceae and is distributed in the heavy snowfall region of the Japan Sea side. It is also called Asi usui (Ashio cedar), Urasu, Daisugi . This species is narrower in leaf angle than Sugi (C. japonica) and its tip bends inward. The garden tree will be the one that branches off from near the root and branches into several trunks. It will flower from March to April. It is designated as a tree in Kyoto Prefecture.
