What is Aquilegia buergeriana

Aquilegia buergeriana or yama odamaki (cientific name:Aquilegia buergeriana) is a hardy perennial of the family Ranunculaceae native to Japan. It grows wild in gravel and grassland in the mountains of Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. In summer, it produces long, slender flower stalks that shoot out from between the 2 times 3 protruding compound leaves and produce yellow five-petaled flowers downward inside a purple-brown calyx. The pistils point upwards and bear seeds in the wake of the calyx and flowers being scattered.
