Acanthopanax divaricatus or KeYamaukogi , (scientific name: Acanthopanax divaricatus), is a deciduous shrub belonging to the family Araliaceae, native to Japan and China. In Japan, it grows naturally in the mountains of from Hokkaido to Kyushu. The bark is grayish brown and has thorns. Gray-brown curly hair grows densely on the back of the leaf. White flowers bloom in a spherical shape from late summer to early autumn. After the flower, a fruit like a black Braggart leaf fan or Yatsude in Japanese , scientific name:Fatsia japonica, is formed.
