What is Couroupita guianensis

Couroupita guianensis,　commonly called as Cannonball tree, or Boulet de canon ,(scientific name: Couroupita guianensis), is an endemic species of tropical rain forests of Central and South America, and is a deciduous tall tree of the family Lecythidaceae. Directly from the trunk, it spreads the inflorescence and blooms many six-petaled flowers. The flowers are reddish on the inside and pale yellow on the outside. There are two types of stamens at the center of the flower. At night, it produces a rich aroma to call the cocoons for fertilization, but in Japan it is artificially inseminated. Flowers are flowers all day long. There are dozens to hundreds of seeds in the fruit.
