What is Soldanella alpine

Soldanella alpine, Alpine Snowbell or Iwakagami damashi (scientific name: Soldanella alpine) is an evergreen perennial plant of the family Primulaceae belonging to the alpine origin of the European Alps. It is a horticulture in Japan. Spread round root leaves to cover the ground. Simultaneously with the development of the leaves, the sparse inflorescences are stretched from the tip of the narrow flower stem and several purple flowers bloom downward. The corolla has a funnel shape with deeply cut petals. The name of the flower is derived from the resemblance to Iwakagami (scientific name: Schizocodon soldanelloidess). Soldanella alpine is smaller than Iwakagami (S. soldanelloides).
