Leucosceptrum japonicum

Leucosceptrum japonicum (scientific name: Leucosceptrum japonicum) is a Japanese endemic species and is a perennial plant belonging to the family Lamiaceae. In the mountains and grasslands of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, they create a community by spreading woody underground stems. The stem has 4 ridges, and leaves are attached to each other. From late summer to autumn, the inflorescences extend from the tip of the stem and light yellow lip-shaped flowers bloom from the bottom to the top. The tip of the corolla splits into four, and four stamens and one stamen come out.
The plants of the genus Leucosceptrum are not only this Leucosceptrum japonicum and Leucosceptrum stellipilum, and are distributed in southwestern China, the Eastern Himalayas, and North Indochina.
