Coptis trifoliolata, or Koshiji Ouren (scientific name: Coptis trifoliolata) is a member of Coptis japonica or Ouren in Japanese (scientific name:Coptis japonica) which is a cold-resistant perennial plant belonging to the family Ranunculaceae. The rhizome is a material of Chinese medicine called Ouren.
It has 3 leaves, and makes flower similar to Japanese apricot , scientific name: Prunus mume blooms. In spring, a white single-headed flower blooms at the end of an elongated brown stem.
