What is Zamia furfuracea

Zamia furfuracea (scientific name: Zamia furfuracea) is an evergreen shrub native to Mexico and belonging to the genus Zamia. The trunk is short and bulbous and grows slowly. Although it is a cycad, the leaves have no thorns and are soft and comfortable to the touch. The leaves are pinnate compound leaves that radiate from the center of the trunk. The lobules are yellow-green, wide, cortical, hard, semi-glossy and rounded at the tip. It is considered a houseplant because the leaves are unique. Dioecious. Male flowers are grayish green and cylindrical. Female flowers are cylindrical, covered with light brown fluff, and are 6-7 cm in diameter. All will bloom in early June. Pollination is carried out by insects called white weevil (Rhopalotria mollis).
