Collinsonia japonica or shimobashira (scientific name: Collinsonia japonica) is an endemic species of Japan and is a perennial perennial plant in the family Lamiaceae. It grows naturally in low mountain forests from the south of Kanto to Kyushu. In the autumn, the inflorescence is extended and a large number of white bell-shaped florets are released. Stamens protrude from the corolla. It is known for the formation of frost pillars on stems that withered in winter.
