What is Hanashinobu

Hanashinobu (Scientific name: Polemonium kiushianum) is a perennial plant in the family Polemoniaceae, which is endemic to Japan. It grows wild in the mountainous grasslands of Kyushu. The stems are erect and have alternate, oddly plumageous double leaves. From early summer to early summer, the conical inflorescence extends from the tip of the stem and produces light blue-purple flowers. In February 1995, it was additionally designated as a rare domestic wild plant (endangered class 1A). There are three species of flowers that have been designated as rare wild plants in Japan: this Polemonium kiushianum, the{{Rebun Atsumorisou}} of the orchid family, and the Kitadakesou of the buttercup family.

The flowers are similar to those of other genera in the Asteraceae family Eupatorium makinoi) and Eupatorium japonicum.
