Chinense St. John's wort (Scientific name: Hypericum perforatum subsp. chinense) is a perennial herb in the St. John's wort family Hypericaceae , which is native to China. It is a variant of Hypericum perforatum. It is naturalized in Japan and reproduces with seeds and underground stems, and grows in clusters on wastelands and developed areas. It has a two-cornered stem that is upright and well branched at the top. The leaves are all sessile, with bright spots and dark spots on the leaf margins. The glands on the petals are black spots.
