Koseriba-auren

Koseriba-auren (Scientific name: Coptis japonica var. japonica) is a cold-tolerant, evergreen perennial in the family Ranunculaceae, endemic to Japan. It grows wild in semi-shady areas in the mountains along the Pacific coast of Honshu. What looks like a white flower is a plaque and the real flower has eight to ten flowers inside. It is characterized by its large leaves that are triply-leaved and its rhizomes are narrower than those of Kikuba auren( Coptis japonica var. anemonifolia).
