Sorbus matsumurana or urajiro nanakamado (Scientific name: Sorbus matsumurana) is an alpine deciduous tree of the rosaceae family and is endemic to Japan. It is native to the subalpine and alpine regions of Hokkaido and central Honshu.
It blooms about a month later than the nanakamado (S. commixta). The flowers and fruits do not hang down from the tips of the branches like S. commixta, but stand upright. The fruits of S. commixta are spherical, while those of S. matsumurana are broadly oval with calyx lobes remaining like umbilicals.
