What is Hannya

Hannya, Astrophytum ornatum, bishop's cap or monk's hood cactus (scientific name: Astrophytum ornatum) is a perennial herb & succulent plant of the family Cactaceae, endemic to the states of Hidalgo and Queretaro, Mexico. The plant's larvae are spherical in shape but become cylindrical as they grow. The plant body has eight ridges and vertical spines. The spines are long and sharp. The surface of the plant is dotted with fine silvery-white spots. The flowers are yellow and bloom at the apex.
