Sarcococca, Sweet box or Christmas box ((scientific name: :Sarcococca) is a cold-hardy evergreen shrub native to East Asia in the genus Sarcococca in the family Buxaceae. It is used as a hedge or ground cover because of its beautiful glossy leaves and its resistance to shade and trimming. It produces small, aromatic white flowers in spring. There are several species of sarcococca. There are several species of sarcococca, including S. confusa from China with aromatic white flowers and black ripe fruits, S. ruscifolia with red ripe fruits, and S. hookeriana from China, Northeast India and Nepal.
