Calathea lancifolia or rattlesnake plant(scientific name: Calathea lancifolia) is a native of Brazil and is an evergreen perennial herb in the family Marantaceae. The leaves are lance-shaped with wavy edges. The leaf surface is bright green with dark green tufts and the underside is reddish purple. In the daytime, the leaf surface is green because it is on top, and at night, the leaf rises up and the reddish purple underside of the leaf is visible. At night, the leaves stand up and the reddish purple underside of the leaves can be seen. Small white flowers like ginger flowers bloom at the base of the leaves irregularly. It is considered a houseplant.
