What is Euonymus macropterus

Euonymus macropterus or Hiroba-tsuribana (Scientific name: Euonymus macropterus) is a deciduous shrub of the family Celastraceae, native to Japan, Korea, China, Eastern Siberia and other East Asian countries. The leaves are oblong and pointed and attached to the opposite growth. When newly branched, they appear pinnate and compound-leaved. In spring, the petioles grow out of the leaf axils and suspend light green flowers. The petals, staminodes and sepals have four of each. In autumn, it hangs a dozen red fruits with four wings. When the fruit is ripe, it has four deep lobes, from which a seed emerges, covered in a red pseudocarp.
