Pedicularis japonica or yotsuba shiogama(scientific name: Pedicularis japonica) is a perennial herb endemic to Japan, belonging to the family Orobanchaceae. It grows naturally in subalpine to alpine wetlands in Hokkaido to central Honshu from early summer to summer. The corolla is two-lipped, with a dark reddish-purple helmet-shaped upper lip with a pointed beak and a three-deeply lobed lower lip.
