What is Citrus keraji
Citrus (Keraji, scientific name: Citrus keraji) is an evergreen shrub of the mandarin orange family, native to Kagoshima Prefecture. It produces white five-petaled flowers in early summer. Since it is a uni-directional fruiting plant, it does not need to be pollinated. The name comes from the fact that it is a specialty of the island of Kikai 'Keraji' village. It is a strongly fragrant citrus fruit. The fruits and skins contain large amounts of polymethoxyflavonoids and vitamin C, which are believed to have a cancer-suppressing effect.
