Tanacetum vulgare, or yomogigiku (scientific name: Tanacetum vulgare) is a lodging perennial herb of the Asteraceae family (Tanacetum genus) native to Siberia and Europe.
It is called Tansy or common tansy, golden buttons or bachelor's button because the small yellow flowers look like buttons on clothes.
It is 80 to 150 cm tall. The leaves are green, pinnate, alternate, and have serrated edges. The plant blooms from summer to autumn with 20 to 30 small yellow flowers in clusters.
In the past, it was used as an edible herb, but since it was found to contain toxic ingredients, it is now used as a yellow dye, anthelmintic, cut flower, dried flower, garden plant, and potted plant.
