Cerasus speciosa or commonly called as Oshima-zakura in Japanese (Scientific name: Cerasus speciosa) is one of the progenitors of the deciduous broad-leaved tree "Sakura" (cherry tree) in the family rosaceae.
From March to April,a corymb comes out and it make white bell-shaped floret several upward bloom together with a leaf appears .
Somei Yoshino(Yoshino cherry tree) was representative with this tree.
In addition, the Kawazu-zakura(Kawazu cherry tree) is said to be a natural cross of this tree and the kanhizakura(Prunus subhirtella).
