Pertya scandens or Koyabouki (scientific name: Pertya scandens) is a deciduous shrub belonging to the family Asteraceae. It grows naturally in the bright forest of Honshu Kanto west to Kyushu. Branches well. From summer to autumn, white or pale pink colored ribbon like flowers bloom. Branches look thin like grass, however they are trees. Flowers bloom at the branch of the first year, branches wither in the second year. The origin of the name depends on having made a broom by picking branches of this flower in Mt. Koya.
