Hakusan Shajin

Hakusan Shajin (scientific name: Adenophora triphylla var. hakusanensis) is an alpine variety of Tsurigane Ginseng (Adenophora triphylla A.DC. var. japonica).
It is found from central Honshu northward to Hokkaido. Habitat: It grows wild in sunny grasslands and gravelly areas in subalpine regions.
Compared to Bellflower Ginseng (height: 40–100 cm), it is slightly shorter, has shorter flower stalks, and its flowers are densely clustered. The corolla is broadly bell-shaped.
