What is Fritillaria japonica

Fritillaria japonica or Kobaimo (scientific name: Fritilaria japonica) is a cold-tolerant bulbous plant and perennial herbaceous plant in the Limoceae, native to Japan. It grows in Honshu to Kinki regions. This is smaller than Baimo (scientific name: Fritilaria). In spring, a single downward-squaring, tubular, white-green flower blooms at the tip of the flower stem. There is a dark purple mesh-like spot on the inside of the petal. At the top of the flower stem, two leaves are oppositely formed, and three more leaves are formed on top. The flower name is based on the fact that the bulb resembles a bivalve. Also known as spring ephemeral (early spring plant). Black lily ( scientific name: Fritillaria camtschatcensis). It was designated as a threatened endangered species (VU) in the Ministry of the Environment category.
