Lespedeza cyrtobotrya

Lespedeza cyrtobotrya or the round-leaf hagi (scientific name: Lespedeza cyrtobotrya) is a deciduous broad-leaved shrub in the hagi genus of the Fabaceae family, native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It grows naturally on mountain ridges and other sunny places in Honshu to Kyushu. It grows 1 to 3 meters tall with many branches that hang down or stand erect. The leaves are green on the outside and gray-green with hairs on the underside. Short petioles and long ovate leaves with three-lobed leaflets are borne in alternate leaflets. 1 to 1.5 cm long, reddish-purple, butterfly-shaped flowers are borne in clusters at the ends of the branches.
