What is Skunk cabbage

Skunk cabbage (scientific name: Lysichiton camtschatcense) is a perennial grass of the genus Lysichiton in the Araceae family, native to Siberia and north of central Japan. It flowers in spring in lowland wetlands such as Oze, and in early summer and summer at higher elevations. It produces white flowers similar to Calla (scientific name: Zantedeschina Hybrids). However, in reality, what looks like this flower is a variant of a leaf called a bract. The real flowers are the rice-grained, light yellowish-green ones around a rod-shaped inflorescence. These small flowers are oblong, 2-3 mm long, and bisexual, with both pistils and stamens. They bloom even when submerged in a river. After flowering, large rootlets emerge and stand up. Unfortunately, the whole plant is poisonous, but it is also used medicinally for kidney diseases. It has been known to be eaten by bears after hibernation to expel residual tailings from their bodies.
