What is Yulan magnolia

Yulan magnolia or Hakumokuren (scientific name: Magnolia heptapeta) is a native to China and is a deciduous small tall tree of thefamily Magnoliaceae. Before the new leaves of spring come out, it makes bloom many white oval flowers on the branch tip. A bud that has been wrapped in silver hair from the previous year will flower with the spring. The flowers are fragrant. The flowers bloom upward, do not open fully. There are six corollas, and the composition is three petals and three sepals. The flower color is white on both the inside and the outside of the petals, and the sepals are the same, so it is not possible to distinguish between sepals and sepals. In the same genus, there is Kobushi (scientific name: Magnolia kobus). Both M. heptapeta and M. kobus have white flowers and similar flower shapes. M. heptapeta is larger and thicker than M. kobus. It does not open flat, peels and blooms above, and leaves do not expand during flowering. M. kobus puts one leaf under the flower.
The lotus that blooms a crimson flower is called Shimokuren(Magnolia liliiflora). In Japan, the term "Mokuren' refers to M. liliiflora, and in China to M. denudata.
