What is Parsonsia laevigata

Parsonsia laevigata, or Hourai kagami (scientific name: Parsonsia laevigata) is a slightly larger sub-shrub-like vine perennial plant of the family Apocynaceae, native to Sri Lanka, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and India. In Japan, it grows naturally on the coast of Okinawa Islands. The base of the stem is woody. The leaf color is green, the single leaf, the cortex is cortical and glossy, the leaf shape is oval to wide ellipse, and there is no sawtooth on the leaf edge, and it is opposite. The tip of the leaf can be blunt, concave, or sharp, and the base can be circular or cusp. The herb is toxic and does not eat other organisms, but it is considered to be a larval herb of the giant spotted moth. Idea leuconoe lays one egg on each leaf. The poison contained in the herb is preserved in the body to protect it from external enemies. The flowering season is a year-round, and many florets with a light yellow color and five deep tips are produced through the inflorescence from the leaves. The fruit that bears fruit after flowering is about 8 cm.
