King Protea

King Protea (Scientific name: Protea cynaroides) is native to South Africa and is an evergreen shrub of the family Proteaceae. It is regarded as a representative breed of Protea praised as a king of flowers, and it is also a national flower of the Republic of South Africa. Those that look like pink, red, white petals are total bracts, small flowers gather and bloom inside of them. In the field, the bird called Sugar-bird (scientific name Promerops) is an avian flower carrying pollen. Because it is a tropical plant, it is used abundantly as a flower arrangement material for hotels and restaurants in Hawaii etc. In Japan it is expensive and unusual flowers.
