Ranunculus acris

Miyama buttercup (Ranunculus acris var. nipponicus) is an alpine perennial herb belonging to the family Ranunculaceae, that grows wild in sandy and gravelly areas in the subalpine to alpine zones from Hokkaido to central Japan and northward. The herb is 10 to 50 cm tall. It produces inflorescences from July to August with several 5-petaled flowers of 1.5 to 2 cm in diameter. The flowers are followed by a capsule fruit.
