Rhododendron kiusianum, Miyama kirishima,(Scientific name: Rhododendron kiusianum), is native to Japan and is an evergreen broadleaf shrub of the Ericaceae family. It is a mountain azalea that grows naturally on alpine like Mt. Kirishima in southern Kyushu. Rhododendron obtusum or Kirishima azalea (Scientific name: Rhododendron obtusum) is a selection of this R. kiusianum in the Edo period.
