What is Hinode kirishima

Hinode kirishima (scientific name: Rhododendron obtusum cv. Hinodekirishima) is a horticultural variety of the evergreen broad-leafed shrub "Rhododendron obtusum or kirishima azalea" in the family Ericaceae. It is an Edo-Kirishima type of azalea with dense, horizontal branches that bloom densely, and is resistant to trimming. The flowers are dark pink to bright red, single-petaled, round and slightly thick. This variety originated at 'Hinode en' in the Edo period and was exported overseas in the Taisho period.
