Vaccaria hispanica

Vaccaria hispanica(scientific name: Vaccaria hispanica) is a semi-cold-tolerant annual plant of the genus Baccaria, native to Europe such as Spain. It was introduced to Japan during the Edo period as a medicinal plant. The name was derived from the medicinal use of seeds, which were planted in a medicinal garden in Edo. In spring, the inflorescence is extended from the tip of the branch, and a single small five-flowered flower blooms.
There is 'Vaccari white' which blooms white flowers and 'Vaccaria rose' which blooms pink flowers. Used for cut flowers and garden plants. The difficulty is that pests such as spider mites are likely to occur.
Within the genus is the Saponaria officinalis ’.
