What is Lantana montevidensis

Lantana montevidensis is Lantana which leaves are small, the flower color does not change, the stem creeps on the ground. It is a different kind of Lantana Camara called seven changes.

Lantana montevidensis , Trailing lantana, or Weeping lantana(scientific name: Lantana montevidensis) is native to tropical America, and is a hardy,evergreen, small prostrate shrub of the family Verbenaceae. Montevidensis crawls on the ground with vine. Meanwhile the usual lantana "Lantana camara" is a small shrub of erection and a different species. The Montevidensis is more cold-resistant , the leaves are smaller than the Camara,and it does not change in flower color. From summer to autumn, the inflorescence is extended from the axilla, and florets are assembled into a flower-like shape. The florets are tubular and the tip is 4 fissured. The Japanese name "Koba no Lantana" is based on lanthanum and leaves are small. The genus "Lantana" is a diversion from the Lantana garbis (Viburnum lantana) which resemble flower forms and inflorescences, and the species name "montevidensis" comes from the origin of the Uruguay capital "Montevideo Montevideo" .
