What is Fothergilla major

Fothergilla mayor (scientific name: Fothergilla major) is a deciduous shrub native to eastern North America in the family Hamamelidaceae. It is native to woodlands and wetlands in the Allegheny Mountains, where it originated. Before the leaves unfurl, it produces brush-like white, thread-like flowers. The F. gardenii is an even smaller variety than the Mayor.
