What is Reineckea carnea

Reineckea carnea or kichijosou (scientific name: Reineckea carnea) is an evergreen perennial shade-tolerance of the family Asparagaceae. It gathers in the shade of wetlands in the mountains of Japan from western Kanto of Honshu to Kyushu. Rhizomes spread out on the surface of the earth and expand. In autumn, add a lot of pink floral florets to spiky inflorescences extending from the tip of a short flower stalk. Flowers bloom at lower level than leaves. Flowers bloom from bottom to top. An amphoter with stamen faces downward, only male flowers without stamens bloom above. In the late autumn after the flower, I will make a red spherical fruit. Kichijoso is an auspicious flower and the origin of the name depends on the legend that it blooms when there is a good news in the house where this flower was planted. The flower language is "good thing". "Genus" "Reineckea" is a contribution to German gardener "Reinecke", species name "carnea" means flower stem "fleshy".
