What is Loropetalum
Loropetalum or Tokiwamansaku (Scientific name: Loropetalum chinense) is native to Japan, China and India, and is a cold-resistant evergreen medium to high tree of the family Hamamelidaceae.
In spring, it blooms a shiny white color like a thin string resembling a vinyl. It is used for garden trees and hedges as it is resistant to cutting.
There are Chinese witch hazel(Shina mansaku) that blooms a yellow flower in the same genus, and Chinese fringe flower(Akabana mansaku) that blooms a red flower in a variation.
