Panda kan-aoi

Panda kan-aoi (scientific name: Asarum maximum) is a variety of kan-aoi (Asarum nipponicum) and is endemic to China. The leaves resemble those of anthuriums and other ornamental plants. This pandanus hollyhock has nearly circular leaves with green irregular white spots on the leaf surface.

The flowers (actually sepals), about 5 cm in diameter, bloom under the leaves in April and May.
The petals are petalless, and the calyx has three deep lobes at the tip in a bud shape that looks like a flower.
The inside of the calyx is bicolored, white in the center and dark purple (rarely green) around the center, looking like a black-and-white panda pattern.
The flowers have a characteristic mushroom-like odor. It can be potted or planted in the garden, and its roots are used for medicinal purposes.
