What is Barringtonia asiatica

Barringtonia asiatica or Goobannoashi (Scientific Name: Barringtonia asiatica) is an evergreen middle tall tree of the family Lecythidaceae originating from Japan , or the Indian and Malay Peninsula in the tropical regions of the Pacific Islands. In Japan, it grows on the coast of southern Ishigakijima. In the evening of summer, the flower arrangement is extended from the tip of the flower stem, and a fragrant white flower is bloomed. Petals are facing upwards, bristle-colored tufted stamens protrude from the base. Since flowers will be scattered in the morning, there are not many opportunities to shoot flowers that are beautifully blooming. By the way, the cigarette Barringtonia racemosa (descending flower, scientific name: Barringtonia racemosa) brings downwardly flowers. Leaves are cortical and have a large wide falling needle shape and are attached to each other as they are. Flower name is based on the fact that fruit resembles "legs of go board". Known as drifting seeds, the fruits are spongy and light, floating on water, so they are carried far into the ocean current and increase descendants at the destination. Fish is poisoned in the fruit because it is not predated by the fish during drifting. There is also a fishing method that catches fish using this poison.
