Ichiyo cherry

Ichiyo cherry (scientific name: Cerasus lannensiana 'Ichiyo') is a Japanese horticultural species, a deciduous broad-leaved shrub in the cherry family Rosaceae. It blooms relatively early among double-flowered cherry trees. The tree has an umbrella-shaped form. It is a double-flowered variety of the Oshima-zakura family of sato-zakura (Sato-zakura) and is similar to the Fugen-zakura. The flowers are double-petaled and pale pink, turning white as they bloom. The number of petals is 20 to 30, and the petals are flattened but undulate. The pistil is a single pistil, the lower part of which is transformed into a leaf. The young leaves are reddish brown and open at the time of flowering and turn red in autumn.
