Oncidium ornithorhynchum (scientific name: Oncidium ornithorhynchum) is a small evergreen perennial epiphytic orchid of the genus Oncidium in the family Orchidaceae, native to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica. It is native to subalpine moist forests. The valves (pseudoscales) are slightly flattened and ovate, 5-12.5 cm long, with two leaves at the tip. The leaves are somewhat leathery, linear-lanceolate, 20-30 cm long and 5 cm wide. From December to January, a 30- to 60-cm flower stalk emerges from the bulb, from the tip of which two or more conical inflorescences grow, producing long-lasting peach-colored flowers 2 to 2.5 cm in diameter with a rich vanilla fragrance. Sepals and lateral petals are the same color and the same size.
