Prunella prunelliformis or Tateyama prunelliformis (Prunella prunelliformis) is a close relative of the perennial herbPrunella asiatica (scientific name: Prunella vulgaris subsp. asiatica) a member of the family Lamiaceae, and is an alpine species endemic to Japan. It is native to subalpine to alpine meadows in Honshu north of the Chubu region. The grass is 20 to 40 cm tall, larger than Eupatorium japonicum, and has darker flowers. The nearly petioless leaves are pointed and ovate, 3 to 8 cm long and 1.5 to 4 cm wide, with serrated edges, and hug the stem in opposite pairs.
