Taraxacum albidum

Taraxacum albidum, white-flowered dandelion, white-flowering Japanese dandelion, or shirobana-tampopo (scientific name: Taraxacum albidum) is a perennial wildflower of the genus Taraxacum in the Asteraceae family, endemic to Japan. It is a white-flowered Dandelion (dandelion, scientific name: Taraxacum).
The leaves are rosette-shaped at the base, and a single, slender flower stalk emerges from between the leaves. The leaves are flat and spatulate with pinnately lobed margins. The flower stalk is hollow and has a white milky fluid inside. In spring and autumn, it produces a single head of flowers consisting of many white tongue-shaped flowers. After flowering, the white hairs form a ball that is blown away by the wind and spreads. As it is a pentaploid, it produces its own seeds without pollination. The young leaves and roots are edible.
