What is Common grapes

Common grapes, scientific name: Vitis vinifera., is a deciduous vine shrub and fruit tree "grape" of the family Vitaceae, native to North Africa, Europe, Arabian Peninsula, Middle East and India. It grows along riverbanks and in moist forests. The European grape (V. vinifera) is the parent variety of the majority of wine grapes produced in the world today, having been discovered in wine vessels in Iran 7,000 years ago and introduced to China 2,000 years ago, and is used worldwide. It is called Common Grape in English. It is mainly used for wine production because its berries and skins do not peel easily.
There are two varieties: the wild subspecies V. v. sylvestris and the cultivated variety V. v. vinifera. The wild subspecies is dioecious and produces dark purple to black fruits 0.6 cm in diameter, which must be pollinated in order to bear fruit. Cultivated cultivars are dioecious and produce green, red, or purple fruits up to 3 cm in diameter. Recent research results have revealed that the grape is the fourth genome sequence as a gametophyte, and that white wine was created from a mutation of red wine.
