What is Salad Burnet

Salad Burnet (scientific name: Sanguisorba minor) is native to the Mediterranean coast, and is a cold-resistant perennial vegetable of the family Rosaceae. During the early summer to rainy season, add a green spherical inflorescences to the shoot apex. The upper part of the inflorescences plays a red stamen with a male flower. The lower part of the inflorescence is a female flower and puts out a purple stigma. It is the calyx that the petals degenerate and looks like petals. Flowers (calyx) bloom from top to bottom. Wakaba is a vegetable which smells like cucumber and can be eaten raw salad etc. It is rich in vitamin C, and private medicine is supposed to have medicinal ingredients against diuresis. In the closely related species, there are Wallemocow (S. officinalis) and Sanguisorba hakusanesis (S. hakusanensis).
