Malus prunifolia (scientific name: Malus prunifolia) is native to China, and it is a cold-resistant deciduous shrub of an apple belonging to the Rosaceae family. Leaves are wide lanceolate forms with serrated teeth on the leaf edge. In the spring, the white five petals makes bloom at the tip of the branch and in autumn it makes put red- or yellow-collored small fruits similar to apples. The taste of fruit is called "Inugarugo (Dog Ringo)" in another name because acidity is superior and it is inferior as food. It is mainly planted as an ornamental tree and a bonsai.
