What is Goldcrest

GoldCrest (Scientific name: Cupressus macrocarpa 'Gold Crest') is a cultivar of the evergreen needle-leaved tall trees which is "Monterey cypress" of the family Cypressae native to California Coast in North America. The leaves of Monterey cypress are greenish, however the leaves of Gold Crest become golden. The gentle tree shape and light yellow leaf color which looks like gold are preferred and planted well. In the early summer, a creamy florist like flower blooms. The weak point is that the roots are shallow and easy to collapse, leaves are dense so it is not suitable for high temperature and humidity like in Japan. Because it grows fast, it is resistant to harvest and is used for topiaries. Conifer is also popular because the color is bright.

Generic name: GoldCrest, Scientific name: Cupressus macrocarpa 'Gold Crest' , Origin: Garden cultivar, North America, tree height: 1 to 20 m, leaf shape : Scaly shape.
