Actinidia polygama ,silver vine, matatabi or cat powder ,scientific name: Actinidia polygama, is a deciduous vine native to Japan and the Korean Peninsula, belonging to the genus Actinidia in the family Actinidiaceae. It is native to Japan and the Korean peninsula, and is found in mountainous areas in Hokkaido, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. It is dioecious. Male plants have male flowers with only stamens, while dioecious plants have both stamens and pistils. The white flowers bloom downward in summer. Some of the leaves turn white during the flowering period, as in the Saururus chinensis and Davidia involucrata. Sometimes, buds or flower-like insect bumps (gall midge) are formed. It is said to cause ecstasy in cats as well as in doghackers.
